The Project

This single-story ranch sits on a tight residential street in Bergen County, with the Manhattan skyline visible from the ridge on a clear day. The original roof had reached the end of its service life, and the homeowners opted for a complete tear-off rather than a layover — the only way to inspect the decking underneath and start the new system clean.

The crew stripped the existing shingles, inspected and re-nailed the deck, then rolled out Stinger EXO25 synthetic underlayment across the full roof plane. Bundles of GAF Timberline HDZ architectural shingles were staged along the ridge so installers could work down both slopes without repeatedly climbing the ladder.

Working on a dead-end street meant staging carefully: the dumpster, material van, and ladder rack all had to fit without blocking neighbors' driveways. The job was completed in two working days, with a magnetic-roller sweep of the lawn, walkway, and street before the crew left.
