The Project
This 1928 Tudor in Teaneck was overdue for replacement — the existing 25-year architectural shingles had reached end-of-life, and several missing shingles around the dormers signaled imminent leak risk. The 12/12 (45-degree) pitch and four dormers ruled out staged-platform tear-off; this job required full safety harness setup, ridge anchor points, and roof jacks at every working elevation.
The homeowner wanted to preserve the home's historic character. We specced GAF Grand Sequoia designer shingles in Autumn Brown — a heavyweight, deeply shadowed shingle that mimics the look of weathered cedar shake. Every shingle on this job was hand-nailed (not pneumatic-gunned) per Grand Sequoia's premium installation spec to ensure the warranty stayed intact.
Five-day install, no disruption to interior, and the homeowner received GAF System Plus warranty paperwork covering 50 years on materials.
